Nothing here is a remembered price or a number copied from an old draft. Every price and star rating gets pulled straight off the live listing before a page goes up, which also means it's a snapshot: pull up an article from a few months back and the price may have moved since. Amazon changes prices constantly and we can't chase every one after publish, so treat the number on the page as "accurate on the date shown," and check the listing itself before you buy.
A product doesn't make a gift guide because it's popular in general — it has to fit the specific person, occasion, and budget the guide is written for. Beyond that we're mostly asking whether it's something the recipient would actually use, not just something that looks good unwrapped and ends up in a drawer. Guides are split by price tier on purpose, so a $12 pick and a $60 pick aren't being judged against each other. And if something has a real downside — runs small, has a learning curve, feels cheap for the price — that goes in the writeup. A list of only positives isn't useful to anyone, ourselves included.
A wrong opinion about a gift is annoying. A wrong phone number or a dead link on a balance-check page means someone can't get to their own money, which is a different kind of problem. So for those pages specifically, we don't publish a phone number or a check-balance URL unless it's been confirmed against the brand's own site. If we can't verify it, the field stays blank rather than filled in with a guess.
