Crate & Barrel sells only its own branded gift cards, but those cards stretch across Crate & Barrel, Crate & Kids, and CB2. Here's what you can buy, where to buy it, and what the fine print actually says.

If you are standing in a Crate & Barrel aisle wondering whether the store carries a rack of other-brand gift cards, the short answer is no, and it is better to know that before you drive over. Crate & Barrel sells only its own gift cards, but those cards cover more ground than most shoppers expect: Crate & Barrel, Crate & Kids, and CB2 all accept them. Here is the real rundown of what you can buy, what it costs, and where to get it.
Crate & Barrel runs a single-brand gift card program. There is no multi-brand rack, no digital gift-card mall, and no third-party brands mixed in. If you were hoping to grab a restaurant card or a streaming card alongside a houseware gift, you will need a different retailer for that half of the errand. Our Kohl's gift card breakdown is a good example of what a multi-brand rack looks like, and Crate & Barrel is simply not that.
What they do sell:
All of the above are redeemable for merchandise and services at U.S. Crate & Barrel, Crate & Kids, and CB2 locations including outlets, online at crateandbarrel.com, crateandkids.com, and cb2.com, and by phone or catalog order. If someone hands you a CB2 card and you would rather spend it on Crate & Barrel furniture, that works. If you want to verify the balance before you shop, our CB2 gift card balance guide walks through the lookup steps.
This is where Crate & Barrel is more flexible than a lot of retailers. You are not locked into $25, $50, and $100 tiers.
On fees, the news is clean. Crate & Barrel does not charge service fees or dormancy fees on unused gift or eGift cards that carry a balance, there is no activation fee on their own cards, and the funds never expire. That last point matters if a card sits in a drawer for two years.
On limits, the official site does not publish a daily or per-order purchase cap for consumers, and there is no published cap on how many cards you can apply to a single transaction. Multiple cards on one purchase is normal and allowed.
You have three official channels, and all three are legitimate.
In stores. Physical cards are sold at the register at Crate & Barrel and CB2 locations. In-store buying is the fastest path if you need the card in hand today, and it is the easiest way to confirm you are getting a genuine card rather than a resold one.
Online. Physical and eGift cards are both available through crateandbarrel.com's gift card page. The eGift route hands off to CashStar, which is the partner Crate & Barrel uses for digital delivery. That handoff is normal, not a red flag.
By phone. Phone orders work for gift cards too, which is useful if you are buying for someone in a different state or want a human to confirm delivery timing.
One thing worth flagging: while third parties like Kroger, Giant Eagle, Costco, and resale sites sometimes carry Crate & Barrel cards, Crate & Barrel's authenticity guarantee only covers cards bought through their own website, their stores, or their official phone channels. Cards from auctions, classifieds, or resale marketplaces can turn out to be counterfeit, zero-balance, or canceled if the original purchase was fraudulent. If a discount looks unusually steep, that is the reason.
Crate & Barrel does not run a free points club separate from its credit card. The rewards program that matters here is the Crate & Barrel Visa Signature Card, with a parallel version for CB2.
Cardholders earn Reward Dollars on net new purchases: 10 percent back at Crate & Barrel, CB2, Crate & Kids, and Hudson Grace across in-store, online, phone, and app purchases; 4 percent at grocery and home-furnishing retailers plus certain limited-time categories; and 1 percent on other eligible purchases. Those Reward Dollars convert automatically into $20 Reward Certificates once you hit at least $20 accrued, issued at statement close. Certificates expire 90 days after they are issued and have to be used in full on a single transaction of equal or greater value. Choosing the special financing option on a purchase means you do not earn Reward Dollars on that same transaction.
Now the part that surprises people. The official Rewards Program Terms list reloads of existing Crate & Barrel gift cards as ineligible for Reward Dollars. Program trackers report the same logic for new gift card purchases: you do not earn rewards when you buy the card, you earn them later when the card is redeemed on actual merchandise. So buying a $200 gift card is not a way to farm 10 percent back. Returns also reverse any associated rewards, which is standard but worth knowing.
If you are shopping for a houseware-minded gift and want actual product ideas to pair with a card, our weighted blanket gift guide and heated throw roundup both land squarely in Crate & Barrel territory.
Yes. CB2 Gift and eGift Cards are fully interchangeable with Crate & Barrel cards at U.S. Crate & Barrel, Crate & Kids, and CB2 stores, online, and by phone. Legacy Land of Nod gift and shop cards also still work at Crate & Barrel and CB2.
No on both counts. Crate & Barrel does not charge service or dormancy fees on unused gift, eGift, shop, or eShop cards that carry a balance, and the funds never expire. Any unused balance just sits there until it is spent.
Three ways: online through the gift card page on crateandbarrel.com, at any store, or by phone at 877.477.4567. You will need the card number and the PIN. If your card is a CB2-branded one, our CB2 balance-check page covers that specific flow.
No. The per-card maximum is $1,000 for both physical cards and eGift cards. If you need to gift a larger amount, you can buy multiple cards, and there is no published limit on how many cards can be applied to a single purchase.
Based on the program terms and tracker reporting, no. Reloads of existing gift cards are explicitly ineligible, and new gift card purchases are generally treated the same way. You earn Reward Dollars when the card is actually redeemed on merchandise, not when you buy it.
